Adverse meteorological conditions, such
as strong wind, heavy rain and
thunder, would affect the noise measurements. For the existing Ching Lam noise monitoring station, the computer
has been programmed to automatically discard the noise data when the instantaneous wind speed measured at the station building rooftop exceeded 10 m/s. In case when there is a thunder or heavily
raining, winds may not be strong enough to inhibit data, then
noisy thunder and rain would have to be manually correlated with the
alarm/events. If a noise alarm were
raised, the operations staff on duty round the
clock would record the event. The
relevant data would then be manually discarded.
